MOONGLOWS: These delightful buttons originated in West Germany during the 1950's and are prized for their subtle ephemeral tones. Clear glass was used to magnify and emphasise the swirling designs. Victorian black glass buttons were often embellished with metallic lustre trim, especially in silver. This has the effect of highlighting the finely moulded designs.
